Rob Forsyth

Rob joined Ballarat Urology in 2008, after undertaking fellowship training in the UK and USA with a focus on laparoscopic, reconstructive/urethral, and prosthetic surgery. He has a wide experience in General Urology via open, laparoscopic and robotic approaches including the treatment of kidney, bladder, testis and prostate cancer, urinary and sexual dysfunction, and stone disease. Rob provides urology services to Castlemaine and Maryborough and has been extensively involved in urological training and education, including chairing the Surgical Training Board and its Education Subcommittee redeveloping the training curriculum. He has a broad interest but limited talent in sports, particularly cycling and golf, and enjoys adventure travel and photography. 


Lydia Johns Putra

​Lydia has an interest in female urology, particularly urinary incontinence, overactive bladder and painful bladder syndrome. In addition, she sees patients with prostate, bladder and kidney problems such as cancer, infection and stones. Following completion of General Urology training, she did a fellowship in Neurourology and Continence, and further training in Oxford, UK. Lydia is Chairperson of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Board of Urology. She operates in Ararat on a regular basis.

Kiran Manya

Kiran is an Australian trained Urologist. Initially, he qualified as a clinical pharmacist then went on to graduate in Medicine from the University of Sydney with Honours. Kiran completed additional fellowship training in Robotic and Laparoscopic surgery in a high-volume centre in the UK and France. His expertise spans across General Urology, Uro-oncology, kidney stones and voiding dysfunction. He has a special interest in Robotic surgery for prostate and kidney cancer. He is the Supervisor for Education and Training (SET) for the Urology Registrars at Grampians Health. Raised in Melbourne, Kiran is a Bombers fan, enjoys family time with his wife and chasing his kids around the lake. 

Modher Al-Shawi

Modher is a Melbourne trained General Urologist with experience in minimally invasive surgery for benign and malignant conditions of the bladder, kidney and prostate. He has special interest in complex stone disease, prostate and renal cancer. Modher has more than 20 years of medical experience, completed his urology training in Australia and undertook fellowship positions in Monash, Ballarat and St. Vincent Hospital in Melbourne. Dr Al-Shawi believes in patient centred care in collaboration with GPs, elaborate communication and shared decision-making processes.
